The Wheel was Invention
The Axle was Innovation
OUR NAME
Any list of the transformative technological achievements of Humankind has the wheel very close to the top. Yet, it is its combination with the axle that advances it from simple log rollers to its pervasive use across a range of applications; from the more efficient transportation of goods and people; to the transmission of power for propulsion, for grinding of foodstuffs and raw materials, for generation of electricity; simple pulleys and gearing to clockwork, and gyroscopes for navigation.
In many cosmologies, the World Tree or Tree of Life is also the axis upon which the heavens turn and all life is supported in order and harmony.
AxleTree seeks to ensure that the mix of innovation and existing technologies can provide solutions across the widest possible range of applications, optimising their potential to contribute to more sustainable society and environment
OUR STORY
AxleTree Capital was established in 2023 by Tennant Burnett Corporate Advisory with a foundation team of Matthew Williams, Eugene Kopp and Kate Gaffney from Tennant Burnett joining with Jordan Green AM to address a serious gap in the investment landscape. Together they developed AxleTree Capital as a technology agnostic Funds Manager with a focus on all round sustainability and on ensuring a continued pipeline of Australian innovation reaches its potential.
AxleTree Capital bridges the gap between emerging innovation and established technologies and businesses. We provide funding and management support for Australian and Australian based companies graduating from early-stage Venture Capital to join our portfolio of established companies.
This provides investors with access to a diversified portfolio of opportunities to invest at scale in the sustainability thematic and an opportunity to provide ongoing support to emerging companies as they grow. Having been the first manager of Utilities Trust Australia, Matthew Williams had long ago identified a need for patient, institutional investors to capture additional value and diversification benefits through unlisted growth assets. AxleTree achieves that and does so by prioritising social, environmental and economic sustainability in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
AxleTree Capital also maintains strong links with the research community to ensure timely identification and validation of emerging opportunities for investors.

AUSTRALIAN BASED, GLOBALLY FOCUSED
Our approach to UN SDGs is informed by the 7 global megatrends identified by the CSIRO (2022).
Development and application of new technologies are critical to achieving the UN SDGs locally
in Australia and worldwide.
“Megatrends typically unfold over years or decades and occur at the intersection of multiple interconnected trends that are narrower in scope.”
